Mark K.: The SSB analyst who was "pounding the table" on this sector gave the following Lt growth estimates on these stocks: DYN(20%), CPN(35%), AES(30%), NRG(25%), ENE(20%), and DUK(10%). The Calpine CEO, after reporting blowout earnings last week, said during a CNBC interview that he envisioned 35-40% earnings growth per year over the next 3 years.

One final point: AES is the only player of the above that is international in scope. They are acquiring underutilized power plants and energy facilities all over the globe, upgrading them, and then selling the energy and power on the open market. If you think the US is behind in terms of building adequate power facilities for the 21st Century economy, just imagine how far behind Europe and the Eastern European countries who were part of the Communist block are. This is a company worth researching in some depth, IMO.
