"Netergy Networks and STMicroelectronics Expand Co-operation to Increase High Volume Production and Distribution of System-On-Chip VoIP Devices" -------- See: biz.yahoo.com -------- "GENEVA and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM - news), a world leader in semiconductors, and Netergy Networks (Nasdaq: NTRG - news), a leader in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) software and embedded technology, announced terms of a joint cross-licensing and manufacturing agreement, designed to dramatically increase the production and distribution of the companies' VoIP integrated circuits. Expanding on the two companies' existing relationship through this new agreement, ST will manufacture and sell Netergy's Audacity-T2 IP phone processor and Veracity VoIP software, while Netergy will sell ST's Stradivarius IP phone chip-set. The agreement is expected to increase high-volume production of IP phones by providing a solution that offers a balance between low cost and optimal flexibility." -------- Hopefully this is a sign of a requirement for Netergy's T2 to have higher volume production for some new, announced large contract? Or maybe just part of the long term ST/Netergy plan as the T2 reaches production phase?
