Compaq's CEO was interviewed on CNBC. The gist of the lowered 4th qtr expectations, was the weakness of the EURO. The CEO said that Compaq already hedged the currency and the max pain from currency transactions and translations would be around 4 cents of earnings. They therefore are incorporating that loss in their forward guidance dropping EPS estimates from 41 cents to 37 cents, since the EURO is lower now than when they put the hedge in place. The European business aside from currency fluctuations was on track.
