I suspect that these nationwide ads are meant to sooth the investors rather than sell phones or build the brand. You need a lot more than an occasional 10 second ad to do that. And brand building is probably the last thing G* needs. Pinpoint marketing by the SPs is what's desperately needed, as noted here repeatedly. But the investors sure take a note of the ads and feel good.

Agreed. This appears to be another half-hearted marketing campaign. It will be a great argument that VOD can make as it buys G* out of BK, i.e., the $x spent on marketing. This marketing won't be considered successful (by me, at least) until people who already don't know about G* start to hear of it. Ten second spots (what could possibly be said in ten seconds?), occassional print ads, etc., simply won't generate the 10,000s of subs needed in short order.

First, G* says its focused on vertical markets; then it's on Monday Night Football (for 10 seconds); what's next?

Btw, who is paying for this marketing campaign?
