What else could these guys have done.

I don't think you're addressing why Nortel is selling off. It isn't because of YOY growth for 2000 or 2001. It is because sequential revenue growth wasn't as expected. The thing that those guys could have done is made sure to get the point across that sequential growth should not have been expected due to seasonality.

Of course, I agree with you that people are selling for any reason because of the market environment. But they wouldn't have sold if Nortel had met revenue expectations. And Nortel could have met those expectations if they were reasonably conservative and took seasonality into account.
