Leaders of countries behave like thugs, unfortunately.

That is a distant prospect. Oil wealth seems more of a curse than blessing. None of the oil-rich countries have used their money in a wise way.

But regarding schools, one of the items the US prohibits selling to Iraq is school text books. And it also used to prohibit selling pencils, under the guise that the graphite in pencils can be melted and used to make atom bombs. A jordanian group then bought one million pencils and trucked them to Iraq at the start of the school year.

Anyway, the whole US mideast policy is crumbling.
