This is generally true. However, Instinet trading of NT was exceedingly heavy today, totalling more than 6 million shares. I wouldn't call it "thin" exactly.

I was wondering where were those shares coming from myself. One possibility is the MMs traded among themselves (to some extent), creating volume as well as a downward spiral. They have been known to do that.
