Not sure what you mean about Philistines.

If we are to believe the scriptures, the Israelites, hardly possessors of a Godless ideology, slaughtered the Philistines man, woman, and child; as thorough a case of genocide as one might find anywhere.

I take no position on the "church vs. Nazis" debate; I don't know enough to have an opinion. I do think that the notion that God-fearing people could not commit genocide is insupportable. If God-fearing people can be convinced, as they all too often are, that God is in favor of their enterprise, they will smite and slay whoever their leaders tell them to smite and slay, and do it with a right good will.
