Actually, I find it quite constructive to set my long-term sell targets when I'm buying them in the depths of bear markets, and long-term buy targets as I'm selling them at bull market peaks.

I'm always early, but it always seems like I outperform the market that way.

That said, my buy targets that I'm setting now hinge on which scenario unfolds for our markets. My most likely scenario is now a Japan-style decade, and if I see the positive feedback engaging as it did in Japan, I'll use my lower set of targets. I'll also assume brief bull markets in which to dump them off.
