Telewest to try VoIP system from Marconi, Motorola Oct 24 1:41 PM Motorola Broadband Communications Sector and Marconi Corp. Plc today announced that they have been selected by Telewest Communications in the United Kingdom to provide a trial end-to-end VoIP solution, to be deployed on its broadband cable network. Motorola will provide the CMTS and the telephony-enabled cable modems that reside in the home. Marconi will provide the core SDH fiber-optic network, the softswitch call agent providing voice and multimedia services over IP and edge switches. The two companies' network components will be managed by a common network-management system.
