Ray, Well put and I couldn't agree more. Sometimes, however, a friendly-fire shot across the bow works best.

There is no greater reservoir of electrical engineering talent in the US than residing within the RBOCS. Harnessing that talent to meet the challenges of this new digital era is a problem when the mind set all too often remains in the monopoly era of AT&T where and when it was a one-step-at-a-time, go-slow, operations standard.

Agree that the RBOCs have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders and are sitting on a huge capital base of analog/copper oriented tech which they don't want to junk over night and that there never has been a more exciting (and dangerous) time for any communications company in this largely deregulated, digital age.

Let the debate continue....
