Only difference is that we were all INVESTORS, we just traded in our portfolios around July BEFORE the market tanked same way we "invested' in the internet and got out that fateful date in middle of April in the earnings season before that sector tanked. TIMING again We also enjoy homes in country, cars etc.. but we are not "enjoying" losses, we have them but miniscule as some trading buys can be stopped out for the 2-5%. Investors seem to think traders were hatched on a rock, but no we've been investing since the mid or late 80's according to your age group and have just understood the writing was on the wall if anyone bothered to read.. Especially after the death of the internet sector. We all ENJOYED CSCO but we got out, we even enjoyed NT but got out.

All I hear around me are laments of 'those good old times' double and triple digit gains washed away and that a lot of investors will have to wait years to break even now. People in their 50's sure amassed some money, but their are people in their 30's and 40s that lost quite a lot because they only started a few years ago.

We are investing... in the strong sectors and not milking the poor tech sector which in their lofty pursuits to perfection have to face that they won't be EVER probably making the kind of money that was written into their stock prices. Their situation is so tenuous that any slip of from those high estimates will cut them in two. That kind of investing is not for everyone, definitely not.... I don't think that's the definition of "investing"
