In my metro area of residence, the Catholic diocese is closing an inner-city Catholic church every year. Why? Lack of priests and declining membership.

Do I see any evidence of the suburban churches coming to the aid of their inner-city brethren in a spirit of charity, altruism and love?

No.

The framework is not in place for the churches to accomplish what Bush wants to accomplish.

But fine, give it a try. Perhaps Bush will surprise me and inspire a new generation of Americans as JFK did 40 years ago.
