backlog buildup and long delays in shipments recently?

I don't think this is the issue. The issue is that Roth stated that NT would do $12B in optical revenues and now is stating it will be $10B due to the above points you articulated. So, this - to the analysts - means lower revenues.... something Roth should have seen coming is what I suspect the analysts are saying to themselves. I think this is the underlying issue. That said - I agree with you that NT's business is still sound. They seem to be managing the circuit switch transition pretty well... even though they weren't consistent on the numbers.
