There's often little difference between what newspapers, like the Globe, try to pass off as "news," versus "opinion." They're intermingled, sometimes subtly and sometimes not.

I don't read the Globe, but read that one piece because of the posted reference and link. The fact that the word, "opinion" appeared above it, which I didn't notice at first, doesn't change my views at all.
