Albert,

You are right about the spread.

Intel was gonna introduce a 1.3Ghz and no more.

They are talking about 1.7Ghz for Q1 now per register today.

Clearly MHZ is looking good.

Now as far as introductions go.

They will likely only ship 200K pcs in Q4.

For arguments sake here's a split: 100K 1.4Ghz, 80K 1.5Ghz, 15K 1.6Ghz 5K 1.7Ghz 500 1.8Ghz.

They are served best by doing a 1.4 and 1.5 Ghz launch with decent volumes at these speed grades.

Now in Q1 say they do 2M pcs:

Split becomes: 1M 1.4Ghz, 800K 1.5Ghz 150K 1.6Ghz 50K 1.7Ghz and 5K 1.8Ghz.

As u can see they can do a pretty credible 1.6 and 1.7 launch in Q1.

IMHO, if there was any substantial yield at 1.2 or 1.3 Ghz then Intel would launch PIV at these grades, particularly in light of lack of 1.13 Ghz launch.

regards,

Kash
