Doug, Re: I think Monday's 760/DDR launch hints at good DDR *and* Mustang performance.

I think Jerry was hinting at this in his ON24 interview ("world beating performance with 1.2 GHz and DDR"). We should see a substantial performance increase on Monday with the new boards/Athlons and another one when Mustang is introduced and benchmarked. Probably the original plan was to release DDR the same day P4 was scheduled to arrive (i.e. October, 30th) to match its performance. Then, two weeks later, Mustang should have surpassed it. But Intel did us an favour and chose to delay the P4 by a month. I think we shouldn't complain... ;-)

Andreas

PS: There were already some 266 MHz FSB benchmarks on the net (overclocked original Athlons) and the performance increase was substantial. I still imagine that we could see up to 20% increase with DDR and 266 MHz FSB in some applications which are very bandwidth intensive.
