>> if the us gives iraq a billion in food and medical supplies

Skeeter, I was reading your post and I am amazed at this sentence. Just what do you mean "if the US gives Iraq a billion...". Since when did the the US become God and "gives" iraq anything. Iraq has its own money. And billions of dollars in banks. It has never in its 6000 year history asked the US to give it anything.

Iraq has over $17 billion on deposit with the United Nations Sanctions Committee. It is at the New York Branch of the Bank of France. Iraq has ordered food, medicines, spare parts, elec generators, water pipes, etc.... THEY HAVE PAID IN ADVANCE FOR THEM.

But the US is blocking the shipping of these materials on the pretext that they may be convertable to military uses.

The issue here is that the US wants to cripple any Arab country that is theoritically capable of helping Palestinians survive against Israel. It is destroying Iraq's children to make them an example to other Arabs who might contemplate resisting Israel. No one is asking the US to "give" iraq anything. Just where do you get this idea ?

The US imposed blockade is causing the avoidable death of 5,000 children PER MONTH in Iraq. There are many ways to fight a war. But killing defenseless children should not be one of them. I am sure you will agree with that.
