MDC: Just so you'll sleep happy tonight: I don't have time to go through the complete Limbo list, so let's just do a quick one before I hit the sack:

Limbo says: "Candidate Gore has never proposed any plan that would ensure the financial viability of the SS system":

Hogwash. That is a lie. Limbaugh knows that is a lie and, I hope, you do, too.

Gore's SS plan specifically calls for:

-- "Lock box" protection, so the money can't be used to pay for tax cuts.

-- Using a large portion of the growing federal budget surplus to pay off the national debt by 2012, then use the savings in debt payments to shore up SS.

-- Creation of Retirement Savings Plus Accounts. The plan calls for private accounts that would add to -- not take away from -- SS.

There are about a half-dozen other specific aspects to Gore's SS plan. No need to list them all here and now.

Using the budget surplus to shore up SS and pay down the national debt ... rather than returning the money to the richest of the rich ... sounds to me like Gore has a well-thought-out, workable plan to ensure the financial stability of the SS system.

Bottom line: Limbaugh is a liar. Why? Because experts have said Gore's plan would keep SS solvent for at least another 50 years. Under Bush's plan, experts say the Social Security Trust Fund would be depleted by 2023.

Sweet dreams.
