CDMA Development Group Expands Officer Line-Up; Global Industry Players Direct the Future of Wireless

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 2000--The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) Thursday introduced its officers for the 2000-2002 term at the 2000 CDMA Americas Congress being held this week at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.

In addition to the president, secretary, and treasurer, the CDG has created two new positions -- Hiroshi Sakai of Japan's KDDI will serve as vice president of strategic relationships, and Greg Young of Australia's Telstra will serve as vice president of planning. The following industry leaders now represent the CDG officer group:

-- Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG

-- Brian O'Shaughnessy, president of the CDG and vice president

technology development for Bell Mobility

-- Hiroshi Sakai, vice president strategic relations of the CDG

and director and general manager for KDDI

-- Greg Young, vice president planning of the CDG and senior

product manager for Telstra

-- Oliver Valente, treasurer of the CDG and chief technology

officer for Sprint PCS

-- Edward Salas, secretary of the CDG and vice president for

Verizon Wireless

The CDMA Development Group is a nonprofit trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of cdmaOne. The 110 member companies of the CDG include many of the world's largest wireless operators and equipment manufacturers.

The primary activities of the CDG include development of cdmaOne features and services, public relations, education and seminars, regulatory affairs and international support. Currently, there are more than 500 individuals working within various CDG subcommitt%es on cdmaOne-related matters.
