Slightly OT--Ouch, this is very painful to my portfolio. I wonder if this is going to be a factor in the election. Most voters tend to vote the economy (good but faltering) and their pocketbook. The latter isn't going to look so hot when they check their mutual fund and retirement programs . At least Greenspan is getting what he wanted- is this irrational despondency? The market may take a lead from JDSU earnings after the close today. There is the smell of panic in the air, and more margin calls may be out today. I didn't sense real capitulation with the last decline, but we may starting to get it now. A close slightly below 3000 on the NASDAQ would help. Historically over the last few decades buying after Halloween has been very successful, but like everybody else I'm too scared to put much new money in the market. I'm hanging on to my gorilla's. This decline highlights the value of a significant cash position.
