Hi Bob, With Value Line's P/E ratio at about 13.6, I don't see buying as an unrealistic behavior. Even with interest rates where they are, the broad market isn't over priced right now.

I guess the question might be asked as to where the Ameritrade money is being spent. If they're buying the highest P/E stocks in hope of a rise, then maybe it's foolhearty. If they're looking around for wrecks that can be salvaged then maybe they're not so foolish.

I guess when everyone runs out of purchasing power, then the market can free-fall. I've heard that plenty of money is still flowing into mutual fund families, it's just not flowing back out. So, there should be pent up buying power at the mutual funds. They traditionally are heavy in cash near market bottoms.

Best regards, Tom
