"I hold Roth responsible for alot of this" Boy we have short memories. Nortel wouldn't be CLOSE to where it is today WITHOUT ROTH. Do I believe Roth 'blew it' when he mentioned to analysts a few weeks ago that their estimates were too low? Yes. If NT wasn't going to make that their official new estimate then Roth should have worded his excitment a little better (i.e. not use specific amounts). My guess is that NT really DOES believe she can do these numbers but officially she wishes to be conservative in case telco's really do start cutting back their fiber optic spending. Roth, being the engineer type that he is. Sees things in black and white terms. He will learn to use more W&S hype without substance chit chat soon enough (i.e. give rosy predictions without giving out specific numbers or even having much if any substance to back them up). Cisco's PR dept. have that down pat.
