S&P announces changes

Standard & Poor’s announced a number of changes to its indices. NiSource (NI: news, msgs) will replace Columbia Energy (CG: news, msgs) in the S&P 500 index at the close of trading November 1. Dycom Industries (DY: news, msgs) will replace NiSource in the S&P Midcap 400 index. Harmonic (HLIT: news, msgs) will Dycom in the S&P SmallCap 600 index. Price Communications (PR: news, msgs) will replace Finova Group (FNV: news, msgs) in the S&P Midcap 400 index. Finova is being removed for lack of representation. In addition, Protein Design Labs (PDLI: news, msgs) and Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX: news, msgs) will join the S&P Midcap 400, replacing Standard Register (SR: news, msgs) and Georgia Gulf (GGC: news, msgs), which will both move to S&P SmallCap 600 index. The only stocks making strong moves on the news are Price, adding 10 percent, and Finova, losing 17 percent.
