Just read Cramer's piece: Comparing internet infrastructure buildout to a commodity business like computer hard drives or semiconductors for that matter (as I've seen elsewhere on SI) is doing a diservace imo. When others are providing the same products as you but cheaper you have no choice but to lower your price...and thus your profits typically decrease. Commodity. Commodity. Commodity. Has the f/o buildout been commoditized? Is it in danger of being commoditized? Can anyone and their mother open up shop and compete against the likes of JDSU? Can the Koreans flood the market with similar product? Short answer? No. Has anyone found any proof whatsoever that the DWDM and/or FIBER OPTIC based infrastructure buildout is slowing IN THE AGGRAGATE? IN THE AGGRAGATE? The situation imo is akin to the transformation of Hollywood in the 1920s (from silent to sound). Anyone who decided NOT to upgrade was soon out of business...even though the return on expenditure took a long time to be realized. The old, outdated telcos will evolve in order to stay competitive. Indeed, in order to stay in business AT ALL. They will have to pay the price for their own incompetance. Or else they will go belly up. Jim Cramer -- fact is you are dead wrong imo this time. Wake up!
