QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions Announces Availability of MVPc and Signs Sales Agreements
In-Vehicle Computer Offers Increased Flexibility and Productivity for the Transportation Industry
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 2000-- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM - news), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced the commercial release of its new MVPc(TM) in-vehicle computer and the signing of its first contracts with Alan Ritchey, Inc., and E. Stewart Mitchell, Inc.
The MVPc is designed to interface with the QUALCOMM OmniTRACS® and OmniExpress(TM) mobile communications systems to provide improved productivity and lower operating costs for transportation fleets. Features include a simple driver interface with touch screen capability, support for multiple host platforms and a software development kit that allows for customized or third-party applications.
The MVPc uses the Windows CE operating system to run custom or third-party applications, enabling truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers, private fleets, third-party logistic providers and fleets that serve metropolitan areas to operate more efficiently and profitably, offer improved customer service and comply with industry regulations.
Alan Ritchey based in Valley View, Texas will equip its postal transportation, dairy and feed mill fleets with the MVPc. The truckload carrier plans to use the in-vehicle computers to lower overhead costs and increase operational efficiencies.

E. Stewart Mitchell, a nationwide asphalt transportation and distribution company based in Baltimore, Md., plans to install the MVPc throughout its private fleet, enabling the carrier to streamline operations and improve customer service.
