Is there a serious self-destruct button somewhere in GW's brain beneath the confident facade? It would be typical in an alcoholic substance abuser. Like AA says you never stop being an addict even after you stop. And whatever made him nearly destroy his life in the first place, that deep-down inner lack of self-esteem and rebellion, could still be there. Slips like this also bring his honesty into question. especially when you look at his history of insider trading and accepting "free" millions to pocket from daddy's friends.
