Peter: thanks for the news. I'm fascinated by the make-up of this board. I expect many of these people are attached to institutions that will participate in the clinical trials once they begin.

But what is intriguing is that two are from Baylor College and one is the principle investigator for the Novacor work at Yale - both groups are working on VADs. The Baylor device comes from NASA's work and is non-pulsatile, which many question whether it is possible to succeed at developing such a device. If it is possible, it would be even smaller than the current HeartSaver design, although World Heart has stated that they believe their device could be modified to be non-pulsatile. Hmmmm....

One of the Baylor people is also the editor of Artificial Organs which is where many of the technical papers are published - essential to generating awareness and support in the medical community prior to starting the clinical trials.

I wonder if they are taking the approach of more active collaboration on the few devices in development for this market. At $3 billion per year, there's room for a few competitors for sure, and by sharing their knowledge all have a better chance at succeeding. Baxter Healthcare is the owner of Novacor and a very large company. Perhaps World Heart could even license the final technology to Baxter for manufacture. Just speculation.

All in all excellent news I think. Thanks again.

Dan
