Itanium is competitive clock for clock, but a disaster in terms of MHZ. P4 is scaling nicely in MHZ, but a looks to be a disaster clock for clock. Those ixbt numbers had better be way, way, off, or Intel is facing several years of having nothing competitive to sell. It's taken 5 years to get from PPro to P4, if they have to wait another couple of years, to get to the next core... Geeez.
