Caxton, I guess this is where some of the confusion lies. As always, I will have a cell phone with me. It is data-capable and soon to be Bluetooth enabled -they will be out anytime (Ericsson has one, I believe). I keep it in my shirt pocket as always. I receive a data stream by ways of CDMA, GSM or TDMA (or HDR, in the future?) to my phone, still in my pocket. It transmits or relays this data stream, via Bluetooth to a PDA, A PC or my car radio or a display in my car -whatever is next to me. OK?
The good part, I can get modem speed NOW or soon, no need to wait for operator-build-out of HDR CDMA2000 or WCDMA, no need to change operator, no monopoly among operators. I just use what I have now.
Did that help?

And just to be specific: it will not kill the need for HDR chips, if they are good and needed, it will reduce the number of HDR chips sold, since me thinks Bluetooth in all these devices makes more sense that several HDR chips.
Check out: messages 84979 and 85021
