DALLAS & AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 27, 2000--MigraTEC, Inc. (OTCBB:MIGR), the leading provider of platform migration expertise and technology, announced today at a seminar in Austin that the company has established the MigraTEC Migration Center, the software industry's first organization dedicated to assisting enterprises in porting applications to Intel's 64-bit Itanium processor platform.
The seminar, titled "Migrating to Higher Performance -- Be a Leader, Start Today," is the second in a series of seminars designed to educate enterprises on the challenges and solutions for migrating to Intel's Itanium platform.
"Enterprises in all business arenas will soon be facing the formidable challenge of moving their 32-bit applications to Intel's next generation high performance Itanium(R) platform," said Curtis Overstreet, CEO of MigraTEC. "We've been working closely with Intel, Dell and IBM to help their key customers port applications to the Itanium(R) platform. During the course of this work, the need from customers for a dedicated migration center was revealed. We're establishing the Migration Center to provide services for companies that want to be among the first to realize the benefits of Intel's advanced architecture by taking advantage of our expertise and advanced technologies."
The Dallas-based Migration Center builds on MigraTEC's 10 years of experience in performing successful code migrations and is currently assisting customers such as Labtec, Inc. (OTC:LABT), a leading provider of high-technology peripherals and accessories for computing, communication and entertainment, to move their applications to the Itanium platform.
Migration Center Expertise "We're responding to a rapidly emerging market demand," added Overstreet. "Our customers have told us they do not have the time and resources, or would rather not interrupt development schedules, to efficiently manage and move their code to the 64-bit environment. MigraTEC's Migration Center provides experts, experience, and unique software technologies to quickly assist customers in porting from the 32-bit environment to tomorrow's 64-bit world."
The Migration Center will have the capability to take a customer's existing 32-bit C/C++ application and provide a total solution for rapidly and accurately porting that application to run in native 64-bit mode on Intel's Itanium platform. Along with porting services, other service offerings will include migration training, methodology and strategic consulting.
Migration Seminars MigraTEC announced the Migration Center in conjunction with today's "Migrating to Higher Performance -- Be a Leader, Start Today" seminar presented in Austin. The seminar featured presentations by IBM senior technical manager Ahmed Chibib, who is responsible for defining the application binary interface (ABI) for IBM, and Duane Burton, Intel Technical Marketing Manager. Both presenters discussed the benefits of the IA-64 Itanium platform. During the seminars, MigraTEC's experts help attendees understand all aspects of migrating their current applications and demonstrate tools that make the process efficient and accurate.
