With new FD rules, if MSFT wanted to make another upward revision to EPS to say 1.94 or so, what do they have to do? Issue a press release first?
John: First remember that all we are talking about here is information which is "material". If in the last q report a company disclosed that eps was expected to be in the say 1.90 to 1.93 range, the question becomes is it really important to disclose that they now think its 1.94, nawh, they don't have to, but if they deem it material, then YES, press release, not tell a few of their buddies.
After a while it wont take a press release, they will just post it on the company website.
How does it affect companies giving presentations at Goldman Sachs, B of A, Robbie Stevens? There all companies use to talk about their current financial picture and future outlook.
I think big time. They will now have to actually do analysis, not trade on secrets. Did you ever notice that "analysts expectations" were always within a penny of the real numbers.
As far as limiting what can be said at the dog and pony show by the company, nawh, they will just place emphasis on information already IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.
Coincidence, I THINK NOT. :))))
I personally believe, WITHOUT ANY FACTUAL BASIS WHATSOEVER, that is why Jeffry Vinick closed his 4 Billion dollar fund.
The game is no longer afoot. This is big time good for the market and the honest investor. |
