Can't I have some and eat it too? I have IRA and taxed trading accounts. I may have a long term hunk of something in the taxable account and have a short term trading position in the IRA. But it doesn't make me a bad person. Don't ask how many long term "investments" were supposed to be short term holds, and I won't lie and say that the above is my master game plan. Weren't you flipping this for eighths or something?
