What I recall about Reagan was big deficits. Spend on Star Wars, spend on the military, spend, spend, spend.......

He beat the Russians in the Cold War thru military spending which freed hundreds of millions of people from tyranny. It may have happened anyway at a later date but those people who were freed value every day extra they get.
The democrats did the non-military deficit spending. In essence between the two he blew up the deficit and forced the democrats to adopt Bill Clinton/NDC policies which actually continued Reagan/Bush economics--a mix of supply side plus a paying down of the national debt. Now taxes are too high again and Bush gives us more genuine tax reform and reductions. But I too will probably vote for Gore hoping that the Greenspan influence modifies the populism of the campaign that Gore is using. And again a women's choice and the SC future makeup is appointment not only for abortion rights but for a modern interpetation of the constitution which the strict constructionists wont give us.
