I suppose that wonderful idea comes from the Bush side. I've become so disillusioned with Federal politics that I pretty much have it on "ignore". While that might be a reasonable idea if instituted properly, it opens Pandora's box. And I certainly don't trust the Feds to implement something with that much potential for abuse responsibly. I think the biggest problem is that Wall Street clearly can't be trusted to manage increasing amounts of money responsibly. Throw in a flood like that and the rats will be running off with huge chunks of the flows.

I also don't like the idea of adding even more positive feedback to the economic system. The more positive feedback you add to a control system, the less stable it becomes, and the less correlation the output has to the inputs.
