Hi Steve, Zeev, Bosco, all:

With the GDP #’s time will tell whether we are in for a soft or hard landing. The financials rallied and that’s normally a sign the tightening is over & they lead the market. Normally a sign the bottom is in and its safe to invest is when financials rally or on the second rate cut. The financial rally can be a false rally & we won’t see a rate cut this November unless the FED is really concerned about a hard landing.

On the economic front the Volvo dealership I use has plenty of inventory and the salesman was ready to deal on the 2001’s. Not sure how much since I’m still holding off the purchase but last time I purchased from him (1995) he was not willing to deal. I was able to negotiate a new Honda this am, for my mother, and the salesman indicated sales compared to last year, October, are down considerably. Its hard to compare but the dealership lot is filled with inventory and a year last summer the lot was pretty empty. This can be just two CT dealerships but from this non scientific sample/survey consumer spending looks to be slowing down on the big ticket items.
