it is beyond comprehension that not even warning shots were fired in front of the raft.

Well, I would have to believe the radar was fired up, but since the boat was rubber it wouldn't show up on the screen.

Again, complacency on the Captain's part is to blame....

But the problem is similar to what happened when that drunk crashed into the White House in an airplane.

Until someone actually performs a terrorist attack in such an unusual manner, it is hard to defend against it.

They're too focused on defending on from the threats they KNOW have already occurred.

But you're right... men on deck with bullet launchers would have prevented such an attack. At the very least they could have perforated the boat and swamped it.

And I betcha, that will now become SOP (standard operating procedure) for any military vessel in a foreign port, friendly or hostile with order to fire to warn 1st, and then to disable any craft coming within 50 meters of the vessel.

That would be my first recommendation.

Btw, they now allegedly have stinger missiles on top of the white house to deal with any future alternative landings by unauthorized aircraft.
