And here's what is beginning to bother me...the acquisitions route some of our favorites take to plug product holes.

I am beginning to wonder if the "make or buy" decisions that come down on the "buy" side don't really convey a weakness in the R&D area. If another company develops a product that is such a good "fit", then why didn't it get developed in-house in the first place? The notion that someone else saw a hole in your product line and got there first is pretty scary, no?
