Even my closest friends are still trying to figure this out.

Had to beat James over the head on friday. But he finally did come up with some important info.

You CAN write covered calls in an IRA.

So if you are long a stock and expect to be long for months, why not write a call against your position.

Buying calls for the most part is a losing proposition, so why not take the losers money? They have to give it to someone.
