The fact is that, prior to Q3, 2001, Intel can not ramp P4 to the point that it becomes a threat to AMD's high end without causing a processor shortage from which AMD will benefit. AMD has until well past the launch of P4 (assuming Intel doesn't delay its launch until Q2 2001) to decide how to deal with it.
