I agree with the basic assumption of supply and demand. But I do not believe Demographics (in today's case the theory that baby boomers will feed the market)plays any role in the supply and demand. I am a firm believer that the market moves based on mass psychology. Today, everyone from High School kids to pensioners are buying stocks. I am a Baby Boomer yet the thought on my mind in University was buying stocks. Why? Last week, my father asked me if he should open a trading account. He is 72 and has NEVER owned a single stock in his life. All of his savings have been in Canada savings Bonds and T-Bills.
To me, this is a classic example of the herd mentality at work. The waves of mass psychology go up and they go down, they always have and they always will.
