it might be that way for you, ed, but not for me. which is why i inquired.

then that must be the difference, and that is why i posted to you that i am using ie5.0

again, what i am saying is, not on my machine. if the discrepancy all boils down to which version of ie one is running, as i suspect, then so be it.
this is a minor matter, and i apologize for going into such great detail. it looks like your suggestion has fixed susie's problem, and that is what really counts.
