Hi Zeev Hed; You wrote: If RMBS's IP is the only way, so far to get memory to work at frequencies in the post 1 Ghz era, they could claim that "whole benefit"
The big problem with Rambus is that their idea, RDRAM, was ineffective. Given this, why are you assuming that their techniques were necessary to get past 1GHz? It looks right now like Jazio has ideas better than anything Rambus came up with.
Rambus didn't patent DDR because it was ancient technology. What they patented was RDRAM, not SDRAM, and I expect the patent lawsuits to make this clear.
RDRAM is dead, dead, dead. The body has been pushed off the back of the boat, a cinderblock attached by a chain around both legs. Intel will give lip service, but only until they get a replacement. The patent suits are Rambus' last chance, but if you were aware of how much IP actually goes into high speed memory, you would be a lot less impressed with Rambus' IP.
