With respect to bailing a short position on the day before the penultimate drop,..... been there, and done that. Actually, I think darned near every short I know has done it. (g)

Riding a short position out that is going the wrong way is something that I have vowed never to do again (again, been there and done that). Too frequently one simply runs out of financial or psychological staying power. I prefer to duck quickly these days. As you note, it tends to be costly in terms of missed opportunity costs even, if one successfully rides it out.

There is much to be said for puts. (g)

Best, Earlie
