JDN: We may be the only industrialized nation to tax capital gains, but I think that our income tax in the upper brackets is pretty low compared to most of them. Maybe the rest just lump capital gains into income? Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think the US is one of the more overtaxed nations in the developed world from an individual's point of view. --QS
