HJ-- Having spent the past several weeks, lurking and learning, I'd like to express my appreciation for the terrific background this thread provides on fuel cells. Although I lack the technical expertise to evaluate the relative merits of the individual products, I am convinced that this industry is poised to expand exponentially.
Finding value as an investor is a problem, though. Obviously, I'm a little late in getting the best seat, but early enough to enjoy the whole show.
Picking a basket of stocks is one obvious method of playing this sector... sticking to pure plays has the most appeal. I'm thinking that any spin off from say Avista, UTX, or IDA Corp., can only be evaluated as an investment vehicle post spin off. Buying a growth opportunity 'at any price' is a day trader's game, one I choose to avoid.
The dilemma remains: which company/companies offer the least risk to reward potential. Any thoughts? Anyone?
P.S. re: Seattle Times article: hasn't it UTX and NOT Boeing that provided NASA the fuel cells?
