Raymond, Thanks for pointing that article out to me. It seems that there is a bit of an argument as to the benefits of the approach taken by Velio. What I do know is that there is a race in the box maker world to deliver the most ports into a box and to fit the most boxes in a single chassis. If Velio can deliver off the shelf components that allow additional boards to fit into smaller boxes, the product will sell. at least 3 start-ups that i am aware of, Gotham Networks, Cyras and Calix, are all including their controllers inside of their custom Asics to squeeze more boards into a smaller box for this purpose. If Velio is the only player that can create this opportunity presently, it will have customers. It would be a while before AMCC would see an effect on its' business in my opinion, but i would need review AMCC's top customer list more closely. If I did not mention it in a previous post, I bought AMCC on thursday in the low 130's. It feels like a gamble right now, but we shall see. tp
