I am confused by the above statement. Did I hear you say that IBM is using Sun Servers, which are misbehaving , and consequently IBM will supply its Low Error Rate Chips to Sun, so that the systems at IBM can be fixed ? What did I miss ? No. IBM doesn't use SUN servers that I'm aware of. I don't know who is the current supplier of the defective SRAM modules in question. However, IBM will be now SELLING SUN large quantities of 16MB .18um fast SRAM chips so that SUN can use these for their so called mirrored memory solution.(using 16MB when only 8MB is required by doubling up on every bit). Of course, this will be VERY expensive since they will (over time) replace nearly their entire installed base on the large cache (4MB - 8MB L2) systems. I think SUN did mention an increase in memory prices as the reason for decreased margin in the last quarter. I don't think they meant DRAM. Now, I wonder if IBM evaluated the possible benefit of NOT selling these chips to SUN. Somehow, with Lou-ser in charge I don't think it would really have mattered if they did or not. THE WATSONYOUTH
