Since analysts have been demonstrated here and on other threads to often be late in their calls - downgrades when things seemingly couldn't get any worse and upgrades at cycle tops - perhaps their actions simply accentuate price movemements.

Not all investors listen to analysts directly. They get information filtered by and boosted by their brokers. This sort of ripple effect may further move prices.
