Martin - as you see the PowerCerv thread is not the most active around. As for your questions, where is this company going? Well, expanded, better and updated more of the same: ADAPTlication for XXX, I guess.
The 1q numbers disappointed apparently because when Powersoft released version 5.0, a certain "client/server class library market indecisiveness" was created, as PowerCerv puts it in its 1996 annual report. That caused license fees to drop off. I assume the effects are still working through in the 1st Q, since license fees were still steeply lower than in 1Q 1996. In the annual, PowerCerv also says that their focus on selling more of their own software is causing their technology resales to fall. Obviously, replacing resales with their own software should provide a gain to the company, and not reduced revenue, so I conclude that they weren't all that successful in selling their own stuff. It is not clear if that means problems in selling ADAPTlication for XXX, but I guess it must.
The CEO said, as he did shortly after the infamous consultant-debacle (which caused the stock to crash to the $4 range several quarters back) that everything is on course and that now it's a matter of execution. Of course, reiterating that after another disappointing quarter creates some doubts as to what kind of execution is envisioned to result in non-disappointing results.
Finally, PowerCerv is responsive at least when queried by shareholders. Try it out. Should you speak with these guys (all press releases urge you to call the CEO, Mr. Harold Ross, at 813-226-2600 ext. 1003) then pass on at least one suggestion: change that ungainly ADAPTlication name into something more pronounceable...
